Let’s get to the news… (Play News Music – Clip 03)

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- A mysterious benefactor in Paris is spreading love, cash and hair appliances along a rugged stretch of New Zealand.

Police are baffled by at least four packages that have been sent from different Paris addresses to residents of the South Island's sparsely populated West Coast. They contain either a hair dryer or hair clippers plus a sum of money - either one hundred New Zealand dollars ($78) or one hundred euros ($128).

Two of the packages came with identical handwritten notes: "Thanks for being a true friend."

The packages have been received over the last two weeks.

"We are hoping it's a random gesture of goodwill," says police Senior Sgt. Allyson Ealam. "We have no cause to think there is any criminal connection."

OREM, Utah (AP) -- An 18-year-old Utah man was arrested on suspicion of burglary after police say he left his homework at the crime scene.

Police in Orem say they tracked a USB drive found at the burglarized home to Dallas Naljahih. They say the computer hard drive contained his homework and was in a backpack abandoned in the backyard.

A 75-year-old man and his wife reported their home had been burglarized early Saturday. The husband says he was woken up by a light in his office, and found a man who was looking through a desk.

The suspect punched the man and fled on foot.

Police say that Naljahih was found asleep at his house along with evidence connecting him with the burglary.

SEATTLE (AP) -- Seattle police are scratching their heads about this one.

A car prowler shattered a window of a parked Jeep, stole nothing and left behind a little something for the car's owner - a dozen tortillas scattered across the floor. The crime happened last week near the University of Washington.

Bemused by the break-in, police were moved to pun, saying, "The Seattle Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind car prowlers that you shouldn't break in to something that's nachos."
